施淑羚 Susu Shuling Shih

藝術家簡歷 Experience：

1959年生於台灣彰化
1986-1990 畢業於英國中央藝術學校以及Byam-Shaw 藝術學校
1989年至1997年之間，曾於英國倫敦、北愛爾蘭等多次展出
1997年至2003年返台定居期間，亦不斷發表作品
在台北市立美術館、高雄福華畫廊聯展與個展無數
作品曾為台北市立美術館典藏
在花蓮期間曾參與洄瀾國際藝術家創作營，以及發展表演藝術。

探索東方墨畫及它的媒材的使用昰我最近幾年的創作方向,意圖從自己的文化裡根延出當代的精神與思維.
在此展我利用東吳大學餐廳的全牆玻璃為我作品的場域. 透過日陽光穿透過宣紙.
"光"宣洩的 熱, 能量,展現, 射放, 這些元素都是我近來在創作上及我本身生命體行流的經驗. 墨畫在宣紙上運用日陽呈現透光, 纖薄但浩浩大然行走於光與墨之間.使閱讀者落入生命中掠過卻忘了停留的空間

Of late I have been exploring Eastern ink painting, pushing the medium to its abstract limits. Pushing through my own culture's roots, I am attempting to grow them into a more contemporary art context where ink painting speaks more centrally to the psyche of our more reflective time.
The Dong Hu University glass in the coffee shop will serve as the light providing space for my work. As the sunlight moves through the Chinese paper it releases heat and energy that effuses the work, sometimes to the point of a muted glow. These elements speak to my condition and constitute the roots of my own life in these days.
The ink paintings appear transparent and vulnerable, but also move beyond themselves in a kind of outward pushing vastness. When the receiver takes this information in, it connects to a perhaps unconscious part of one's life; maybe a memory or an archetypal path to something almost lost but still present in the self.
