薇麗娜‧凱塞爾卡 Verena Kyselka




藝術家簡歷 Experience:

出生、工作於德國愛福特,旅行創作者。
早年就學於東德德勒斯登大學,在愛福特教堂工作室修補古畫。
1998年至2003年間,於德國威瑪包浩斯大學以及瑞士日內瓦藝術高級學校學習錄影設計。
1990年至1999年間為愛福特藝術之家的成員、參加西班牙吉羅那國際創作營、策展執行參與愛福特多項國際工作室計劃。
2000年至2003年,藝術家進駐澳洲、Thuringia。展出無數。

玫瑰是玫瑰是玫瑰

這件作品是來自美國女詩人Gertrude Stein的詩句,這是關於玫瑰花的功能之隱喻。作品中枯萎的玫瑰花從它所屬的自然環境中移除,放大之後看起來像是有鬼臉的人像。玫瑰在枯萎的過程中,演出了美麗、溫柔、有血有肉、傷害、無常,以及氣候、生成的變化。

The title relates to the famous sentence of Gertrude Stein, an American poetess. She freed the concept of rose from its function as a metaphor.
The wither rose heads are removed from its natural environment. By the enlargement they look like human portrait with ghostly faces. The roses in the different processes of wilting interpret beauty, femininity, blood, incarnation, injury and transience or else climatic or genetic changes.














從生到死
幻燈片裝置

這件裝置作品牽涉到死亡、喪禮、土地文化之崇拜者,我建立一個關係介於歐洲與汀美洲之生與死的崇拜者,以及快樂與挫敗之概念、生與死的能量去面對生與死。透過複雜的主題轉化成為「存在之光」。地板上的幻燈投影包含不同文化的墳地真實影像,這影像用刻畫處理過。牆上的影像都是清朗的雲空,像是從高空望去。

Slide installation

The installation deals with cults of the dead, funeral rites and culture connected to the earth. I established a relationship between cults of the living and the dead found in Europe and Latin America and the concepts of pleasure/frustration, energies of life/death, courage to face life/death. Through this the rather complex theme transforms into a “lightness of being”. The floor projection consists of realist slides taken in cemeteries of various cultures that I etched into and painted over. For this purpose I mainly used epitaphs found in cemeteries. The wall projection shows a variety of clear and cloudy skies, an association with height and distance, marked off at the bottom by houses, spires and treetops.
This slide installation was created in 1999/2000 and comprises of two continuous changing projections on wall and floor.
This work was nominated for the Gabriele-Münter-Price, which was advertised through the German Federal Government and the Women-Museum in Bonn.













消失的聚落(Hidden biotopes)

這是我在台灣發展出來的作品,我設想一個遠眺的適當位置與空間,看見有些小聚落生存在高速的台灣都會生活中,偶爾有小植物和動物存在於無人的老房子、現代大建物或街道之間。

Hidden biotopes

This is a work in progress which I develop in Taiwan. I would like to visualize the overlooked niches and spaces, where little biotopes arose and survive in the high speed urbanism of Taiwan Cities. These are for instance little plants or animals in deserted and dilapidated old buildings, on modern edifices or between in streets. The results of my filming research I would like to show mainly in slow motion pictures.
